Scalp Dermatitis vs Eczema or Psoriasis - Dry or Oily

What Is The Difference Between Seborrheic Dermatitis and Scalp Eczema

Both present very similarly. They can both have large scalp flakes and scaling along with raised patches of skin that is red and flaky. These patches can be yellow or white in color. They can be bleeding or they can be itchy. But one of the main things that separates these two skin problems is whether the skin on the head is oily or dry. If you are having oily or greasy problems then it is most likely seborrhea or seborrheic dermatitis. Many times it will also be characterized on the face, behind the ears, eyebrows and on the cheeks as redness, scaling, flaking and more. It will also present in the corners of the mouth and around the creases of the nose. Sometimes it will be present in other places as well. However, note that if you would characterize it along with greasy or oily dandruff then it is most likely seborrheic dermatitis.

If your skin or the patches appear or feel dry to the touch but also seem very similar to raised, red, flaking patches on the scalp then these are most likely eczema. There can be seborrheic eczema diagnosis given but we believe that is the same as dermatitis. Remember that the word dermatitis just basically means the skin is irritated.

What Causes These Skin Plaques and Irritations to Form

With Seborrheic Dermatitis or Oily Dandruff or Itchy scalp is the problem is caused by excess amounts of the fungus malassezia furfur. This is the same fungus that causes scalp dandruff. However, the amount present on the scalp and in the follicle are at much higher amounts. There are many different reasons that the fungi can grow and multiply unchecked on the scalp or even the face. One of the main reasons is that the scalp's primary defense system breaks down. It is important that the scalp's ph and the moisture levels in the outter scalp skin stay at a high level. Click Here To Learn More about What Product can help.

The product that we know to work best on scalp sores, scabs on the head, seborrhea and seborrheic dermatitis are the Zincplex Scalp Products. These without a doubt have had the most profound affect on our staff that has had issues and also the feedback from the customers.

One of the most important things that you can do for scalp health is to reduce excess sebum on the scalp and head. Remember that this is the best thing to do because the scalp fungus, mites, yeast and bacteria all feed off the oils themselves and also what is in them when they are secreted into the scalp.

Also remember that sebum can become crystallized like little balls or hardened and crusty scalp buildup that needs to be removed or the sebum plugs that can happen on the outside of the follicle but also down inside will cause many problems including hair thinning in women. It can also cause itchy scalp and conditions like seborrheic dermatitis or seborrheic eczema to name a few.

Sage can help your hair by making it stronger. The antifungal and antimicrobial properties in sage also help stop the growth of lice, but be sure to thoroughly research your products' safety beforehand.

Sage is rich in omega 6 which aids in hair's natural renewal cycle; new hairs grow at a rate faster than old ones fall out, so there are more hairs left on the scalp with a little bit of an edge-up. A lot less shaving too! Sage also contains potassium, an ingredient that will increase good circulation and strengthen follicles that produce thicker strands for those who struggle with thinning or brittle hair; wiry madam?
